Sawadeeka

Fyi, my trip to Bangkok was great :D
I reached Bangkok in the evening so there isn’t much time to go shopping. We rested awhile and went out for dinner. The restaurant is called ‘Cabbages and Condoms’. Yup, u read that right. All the deco in the restaurant is made of condoms of different sizes and colours. At the entrance there’s actually a sign that read ‘we don’t have a mint, take a condom instead’. After you settled the bill, each customer will get a pack of condom. When my niece asked what’s in the packet I just told her it’s rubber =p
On the second day, the action starts… hehe… shopping time! We took the BTS (their version of LRT) to MBK shopping mall which is like our Sungei Wang. We shopped happily and managed to try the samurai pork burger at McDonalds… yum yum…then we took the MRT to Suan Lum Night Bazaar at Lumphini Park. We managed to buy the mrt tickets using the machine that displays everything in Thai!!!
It was super hot and the air was dry! We bought a drink every 20 minutes or so…
This night bazaar ah is very big…. So many stalls… there are no fitting rooms so we just put the baju/seluar we wanna try on over our clothes… of coz I’ve heard that some amo just took off their clothes/pants as if they’re wearing a bikini n try the clothes… hehe… what a treat for the men…then, there is this guy we saw in one of those stalls getting a tattoo. The guy with the needle is sweating while the guy getting the tattoo just sat there looking cool while his blood oozed out with each needle prod… yucks!
After all the walking we took a tut tut back home… it was an exhilarating ride! Reminded me of the times when I was the motorcycle pillion back in university.
The day after that we went to Jatujak which is like our Petaling Street but with many many stalls and some stalls ada air-con! The things sold here include clothes, shoes, bags, antiques, souvenirs, food, accessories, etc. Things are cheap but not as high quality as Suan Lum. After a few hours, I can actually fell my skin covered with a layer of dust! Just a light brush of the skin and u’ll feel the sand… yucky….When we couldn’t stand the heat anymore we took the train to Siam Paragon. It’s a high-class mall so we went straight to the food court n tried the tom yam n some other stuff. Then we went out walked around Siam Centre where ppl are gathering to see Rain (the Korean star bukan hujan!)… nothing much here so we hop on a tut tut and went to Platinum mall… nothing much here either as they were closing early. So we went home, by train. After a quick shower we went to the massage centre for our massage appointment. Oh, glorious 2 hours of traditional thai massage with herbal compress… all the aches in the muscles is gone… not only is the service good, it’s cheap! The whole 2 hours costs 750 bath only so we were more than willing to add in a little tips at the end…
The next day we couldn’t go far in the 1st half of the day as my little sis is flying back to Msia. So we slept quite a bit (hard to wake up after the wonderful massage last nite)… then we went to Naraya. It’s a shop that sells all kinds of stuff made from fabric, namely, bags of different shapes, styles n sizes, photo frames, tissue holders, spectacles cases, name card holders, oven gloves, n much much more… then we went to Emporium mall which is next to this shop. This mall is super branded… all the branded stores like LV, Prada, Armani, so on so forth… since I went to Bangkok for the bargains, I didn’t go into these stores but went up to the supermarket instead… haha… so aunty like… eh, here u get to see food that are not sold in Msia oh… take for example Ovaltine. In Msia it’s a choc drink, but in Thailand, there are white ovaltine, chunky ovaltine – there were more but I can only remember this 2 range =p then it’s to the food court for lunch. Then sis go to airport while we hop to Fashion Island which is rather far from the town. No train so we had to take a taxi… far away… there’s Robinsons in this mall… apart from that, this is not da mall for me… fashion island my head! After that it was rather late but since I didn’t get to buy anything here we went back to MBK. Only managed to shop awhile then the shops started to close. Managed to buy some working clothes/skirt n a decent coat. Then took the train back. On our walk back home, we stopped by the fruit stall and bought durians n mangoes. How can we go all the way to Thailand n not try these 2 fruits! Wow, both the durian n mango is very fleshy… yum…
Next day aka my last day in bkk… early morning we went to this place called Lai Lai Sap (not sure if it’s the correct spelling but phonetically it’s right lah)… hehe…. Not much stalls here but did get to buy a thing or two… some tidbits for friends n colleagues… some last minute souvenir n stuff…. It was Monday so u see ppl wearing yellow shirts everywhere. That’s because on Mondays thais are encouraged to wear yellow to remember their king. They really do it man!
Anyway, after lai2 sap, we walked quite a distance to a chinese restaurant for dim sum… the service there I tell u is super super slowwwwwww! After makan, went to this shop in Jusco called Dai So. It sells very creative things from Japan n the best part is all things are sold at 60 bath only. Then, grabbed a bite at Chester’s grill and off to airport… once at the airport I stuffed my last minute shopping items into my already packed luggage…. Few hours later… back in Msia…..
Oh, what a long post… if u’re still reading… thanks ;)
